Emily Ickes is a marimba soloist, freelance percussionist, and private teacher based in Kalamazoo, MI. She has performed with the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, and is principal timpanist for the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes in Corning-Elmira, New York.

Emily plays electronic mallet percussion with the OXtet, a fusion group based out of Ithaca, New York, performing all original works by its founder, Josh Oxford. The music contains compositional elements of atonality and 12-tone serialism and is heavily influenced by the styles of artists such as Frank Zappa and the Mahavishnu Orchestra.
In 2023 the OXtet released its latest album, The OXtet Does Hindemith on Parma Recordings.
